Both roles report directly to CEO Tim Dowd. The executive appointments support the company’s strategic plans, which include accelerating the company’s growth, scaling the business to support a broader set of customers, laser focus on operational and service excellence, and strengthening financial operations.

Russ joins Accurate with more than 25 years of executive leadership experience in a variety of roles including Chief Executive Officer (CEO), Chief Operating Officer (COO), President and CFO. Before joining Accurate, Russ served as President of the packaging and supply chain business unit of, The HAVI Group LP, where he also served as Global CFO for three years. Previously, Russ served in various leadership roles at global baking company ARYZTA/Fresh Start Bakeries, and IT services company Bell Industries. Additionally, Russ spent 11 years at PricewaterhouseCoopers.  Russ holds a bachelor’s degree from the University of Southern California in Business Administration – Accounting.

Accurate Background Appoints Dan Shoemaker Senior Vice President of Business Development

Employment screening veteran will lead company growth through strategic partnerships and acquisitions

Irvine, California, October 6, 2020 – Accurate Background, a leading provider of compliant, background checks, drug and health screening and Form I-9 verifications, today announced the appointment of Dan Shoemaker as Senior Vice President of Business Development, reporting to CEO Tim Dowd. During Accurate’s acquisition of CareerBuilder Employment Screening (CBES) earlier this year, Shoemaker led the due diligence process and subsequent transition services on behalf of Accurate as an independent consultant.

Shoemaker joins Accurate with considerable background screening experience. Before joining Accurate, Shoemaker served as CEO of PeopleFacts/Universal Background Screening, an SNH Capital Partners portfolio company, where he was responsible for significant revenue growth, integrated two acquisitions, built the management team, and drove organic growth. Shoemaker also served as Senior Vice President of Corporate Development at SNH Capital Partners, responsible for mergers and acquisitions, strategic partnerships, and strategic planning. Prior to SNH, Shoemaker spent six years at HireRight serving as Managing Director, Americas, responsible for customers and growth in the United States, Canada, and Latin America, and Senior Managing Director, EMEA, and APAC, where he helped to build and expand HireRight’s London-based international business. Previously, Shoemaker served in various roles at government security and risk management firm, USIS, including the investigations business unit director, mergers and acquisitions, strategy, and government affairs. Shoemaker holds a Bachelor of Arts in Geography from Virginia Tech and an MBA from The McDonough School of Business at Georgetown University.

He has also served on the Boards of Escreen, Lubricating Specialties Corp and Accurate. He holds an MBA from Emory University, a B.S. in Industrial Engineering from Worcester Polytechnic Institute and a B.A. in Economics from Assumption College.

Financial terms of the transaction were not disclosed. The Apax Digital Fund, the technology-focused growth equity fund advised by global private equity advisory firm Apax Partners, supported the transaction with an investment in Accurate.

Barclays and Stifel served as financial advisors to Accurate and the Apax Digital Fund. Latham & Watkins, LLP and Simpson Thacher & Bartlett served as legal advisors to Accurate and the Apax Digital Fund, respectively. PJT Partners and Bowstring Advisors, a division of Citizens Capital Markets, are serving as financial advisors and Sidley Austin LLP is serving as legal advisor to CareerBuilder.

Wheeler joins Accurate from Latham & Watkins LLP, where he worked as Accurate’s outside corporate legal counsel for the past four years

Irvine, California, February 18, 2020 – Accurate Background, a leading provider of compliant, automated workforce screening solutions, today announced that it has appointed David Wheeler as Chief Legal Counsel, reporting directly to Accurate President and Chief Operating Officer, Tim Dowd.

Wheeler joins Accurate from Latham & Watkins LLP, where he worked as Accurate’s outside corporate legal counsel for the past four years. Latham & Watkins is one of the world’s largest law firms and is ranked as the fifth most prestigious law firm in the United States, according to Vault Rankings for 2020. He spent the last 13 years in the firm’s corporate department, focused primarily on mergers and acquisitions, corporate and securities law and general company representation.  Prior to joining Latham & Watkins, he served as executive vice president and general counsel at Fuse Mobile, Inc., a venture-backed retail wireless company.
