Several California State University campuses recently announced the adoption of a statewide CSU background check policy across the school system. Chico State, California State University San Bernardino, and Cal Poly Pomona recently published articles on the new policy and their partnership with Accurate Background to background check all final candidates for new hire, as well as current employees where appropriate.
The Orion, Chico State’s Independent Student News Source, reported that “new student and faculty hires may feel less intimidated by a background check policy change that eliminates the need for fingerprinting and speeds the entire process along.”
Chico State’s professor of journalism and public relations Maria DeCastro commented “The typical job interview can be intimidating for some, especially student hires, but the act of entering a police station for fingerprinting is off-putting to nearly anyone.”
Under the new CSU background check policy, most candidates and employees will not have to undergo fingerprinting, freeing up the hiring process through Accurate Background’s automated, web-based background screening solution.
“The new web-based system will hopefully streamline the process, relieve nervous candidates and free the Chico Police Department, HR office and hiring parties to focus on other archaic practices still in queue” said DeCastro.
